Children With Special Health Care Concerns

Photo of Pope's Kids Place patient Although Pope's Kids Place offers pediatric services to all children, our emphasis is on working with children with special health care concerns. Due to the complexity of care required by these children, coordination of their health care is essential to providing quality medical management.

We work with the families of children with special health care concerns to accomplish the following:

To identify health concerns
To manage their health-care issues
To act as their liaison with specialists and other health-care providers

Wide Range of Services to Accommodate Disabled Children

Because your special child is special to us, we offer a wide range of services to accommodate the many types of disabilities Lewis County children may have. Listed below are a few of the many services offered by Pope's Kids Place:

A specialist in neurodevelopmental pediatrics from Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center holds monthly clinics so that severely disabled children can receive medical attention without having to endure the 180-mile round trip to either Seattle or Portland.
Tacoma's Mary Bridge Children's Foundation provides staff for casting clinics that treat musculoskeletal disorders.
A pediatric psychiatrist holds a clinic once a month.

Medical Clinic Staffing

Mary Chmelik (pronounced "shmellick"), ARNP, and Isaac Pope, MD--both graduates of the University of Washington--provide comprehensive medical services.

The welcoming smiles behind the front-office counter belong to Yesenia and Silvia, who are our receptionists. Our billing specialist is Danielle. Our office coordinator, Carole, and our clinic nurses, Barb and Cheryl are available to answer questions about clinic services as well as concerns about your child's health.

Pediatric services are available to all children; office visit fees can be billed to medical insurance, DSHS or paid in cash. A sliding schedule of fees for uninsured children is available. Contact us now for more information.
