Respite: An Interval Of Rest And Recovery
If you are the parent of a special needs child, you know how complicated and time consuming it can be to care for your child. Meeting these needs can be draining physically, emotionally, financially, and family resources can be rapidly depleted.
We know families can be left with little or nothing to draw upon in their efforts to meet the needs of other family members. Constant travel to distant care facilities can create even more stress. Our respite center is designed to provide time for parents/caregivers to take time for themselves, to restore, and to rejuvenate their own energies.
Pope’s Kids Place provides respite care for medically complex and fragile children with special health care needs. We serve children throughout Washington and the Pacific Northwest. We provide daily care, short-term care for up to 2 weeks, residential long-term care, and step-down care from hospital to home. An information packet for respite care is completed prior to participation, which allows us to develop an individualized care plan, as well as a Registered Nurse coordinates the assessment process with a thorough understanding of the care and medical concerns of special needs children.
